Anyone know of events, fairs, anything happening around HK during the holidays ? I am not going anywhere and looking for places to take my 6 yr old to.
I only know of Disneyland's sparkling christmas and Ocean Park's christmas specials.

Although I am not a tourist, I occasionally go into the HK tourist office (one in tst, one in cwb mtr jardine exit & other) and pick up the pamphlets (Family Fun, sites, excursions etc )& magazines to get ideas and updates on whats happening in HK. You can also visit their website. I know one day I will be leaving HK so I like to make sure I get a chance to visit all the sites and attractions.

Hong Kong for Kids (Dymocks & Page One have it) is a fantastic book. It covers everything from museums to parks, playgrounds, everywhere and anywhere that has to do with kids and keeping them amused. A must have for anyone with kids. When i first arrived in Hong Kong I had 6 weeks to fill in for my 4 year old until school started and I enrolled her in Kids Gallery at Kowloon Tong (I think they have a couple of other locations as well). http://www.kidsgallery.com/contactus_hk.htm - it was my saviour for that break even if it was only once a week. Not overly cheap but my daughter enjoyed the interaction with the other kids doing arts and crafts. They also have dancing and movement, etc. Worth having a look into.

Thanks,
I did check the tourism website - looks like nothing much is happening that I can take the kids to. Last year there was a "Santa's town" in central which my husband and son enjoyed while I stayed at home with the new baby.
I'm not looking to put him into any courses as we'd like to spend time together, school keeps him busy enough already. Looking to relax rather than run around dropping him off and picking him up from classes.

If you want to venture into the NT there is Tai Po Waterfront where you can hire bikes and ride along the bike paths. It's also a massive park where people fly kites, it has playgrounds, a beetle/bug museum (it's kinda of small but interesting) and a great array of flowers and plants on display throughout the park. It's a great place for children to run around while you relax and have a picnic.

Kadoorie Farm is quite educational for kids. They have different types of animals, birds, insects, retiles open to the public. They also have an organic farm.
