ORIGINAL POST

Hi - got myself a nice set of headphones for the computer, but after slotting it in the computer it doesnt seem to recognise it - musoc stills keeps blaring out of my speakers.

Have xi-fi sound card and have tried adjusted the settings to headphones but no joy.

Any advice anyone, or could it be a hardware problem with my pc?

Had the same problem once - I think you go to Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio tab then set your default audio device from the drawdown

A lot of computer sound cards don't turn off the speaker audio when you plug in headphones.

Do you get any sound out of the headphones?

What is your OS?

Theres no sound at all from the headphones, when I plug them in the speakers still play out music. (I have a set of headphones with a USB connection and these work fine, thats why Im suspecting it could be a hardware problem)

I have a green jack at front & back of computer, have tried both but no difference.

I also clicked on the boxes which are supposed to mute the speakers but doesnt make a difference.

Im using Windows XP as the OS.

Sounds to me like you have broken headphones.
