I want to buy a PDA and am torn between latest Blackberry Curve and iPod ...any suggestions?

An iPod is not a PDA by any stretch of the imagination. It's a music player and has no direct input method for PIM data. If you need a PDA+phone the Curve is a fantastic choice.

As PDA options, you have several Nokias, the Palm Treo family, Samsung Blackjack, Motorola Q. Here are my impressions.
- Nokia. Symbian interface is good for a full PDA (less good for smaller devices). Add-on installation is hard. Sync software is style over substance. Not user friendly and often can't find the phone.
- Blackjack and Q. Funky interface with inconsistencies (button location often makes little sense for a certain function).
- Treo. Full featured. Extensive support for add-on functions such as spreadsheets. Lots of third party hardware accessories. Some people find it somewhat buggy and crash prone. Solid sync software.
- Blackberry. Very easy interface to learn. Little support for softwar add-ons. Great bluetooth. Large amount of third party hardware add-ons. Pretty much only the basic PIM functions (mail, calendar, tasks, address book, notes) and the obligatory calculator, voice recorder etc. However the BB does all this VERY well. Excellent battery life. Solid sync software.
My choice nowadays seems to always be a blackberry. I don't need spreadsheet functionality and such. I just need the basics.
Blackberries:
- Pearl (8100). Very small but the limited keyboard takes getting used to and will always be slower than a full one.
- Curve. Smallish device so the keys on the full keyboard are also small.
- 88xx. Full size. GPS included. A great device but a bit larger.

thks once more axptguy38, you're now officially my PDA bible, I'm printing your info off and reading up on it before I buy a PDA today - HUGE thanks again for taking the time to type it out in such detail.

Just don't blame me. ;) All people are different and my opinions are really only valid for me. As you may have noticed, I'm a huge BB fanboy. ;)
Good luck.
