almost all the pet shops here in taipo have them. along with hamsters they sell rabbits too. try fa yuen street in mongkok. its mostly dogs and cats but you might... just might find a shop selling smaller pets.

Please PLEASE adopt a hamster from the SPCA rather than supporting the overbreeding and inhumane conditions suffered by many animals in the Hong Kong pet shop trade. See the SPCA's adoption page at www.spca.org.hk/eng/adopt/homing.html. They currently have several adorable hamsters available.

Thanx Nutmeg, I'm more than willing to adopt a hamster. All my pets over the years have been adopted and I believe strongly in it. I didn't know adopting a hamster was an option but I'll check out the website for sure!

Hurray! So happy to hear you are considering adoption. One thought - if your daughter just wants to watch it do its hamster thing, any hamster will do. If she hopes to handle it, the goldens are generally friendlier than the dwarf variety. But in the end it all comes down to the temperament of the individual. Best of luck!
