Hello,
I am planning on shipping a container with furniture and household possessions to HK. I have heard I need an agent or broker on the HK side to get it through customs and delivered. Anyone done this and can recommend an agent?
Also, I think I'll be moving to Lamma Island. Anyone know how I can get all my stuff there, rather than carry it myself.
I need a port-to-door solution. Any help appreciated.
Thanks, Jack.

Santa Fe Relocation did all the work for us. I don't know if they're cheap or anything since the company paid, but everything got here and we felt well taken care of.

The agent in your country should be able to arrange brokerage and door delivery in HK through their partner agent network. The container could be opened at port area in HK and goods delivered by conventional truck to your home, or you you could possible have the whole container driven to your door. That will depend on what is convenient for you. Container delivery will of course be cheaper.
The least hassle solution is to find a freight forwarder near your home that specialise in LCL (less than container load). You deliver all your goods to their consolidation centre (warehouse). They will pack and crate it if needed, load it into a container, ship it, open the container in HK, customs clear it, transload onto conventional truck and truck it to your door.
