this will usually work on wool but I am not sure if I would try on silk carpet. Pour a small amt of water into the dent and gently "fluff" up the carpet that is indented with your fingers. I usually fill the dent with water and leave to dry and then at the next vaccum the dent is usually not noticeable. The wter expands the compessed fibres. But as I say I dont think I would try this with a silk carpet particularly if it is vege dye as it might run.

I know with wool you can iron it and it pops right back - not sure about other materials though.
