Hi,
I just recently (Dec 20) bought a mobile phone from one of the mobile phone shops in causeway bay. They gave me a one year warrantly (excluding parts). A week after, the phone hang, the battery could not be fully charged despite the length of charging time and it would show NO SIM on it. Meaning, it could not be used.
I went to the shop and told them what the problem was. They changed some chip and it was ok. Just last week, the phone hang again (at a time when I really needed the phone because I was scheduled to pick up my son from school and I was running late and so couldn't call my helper to pick him up instead and I was also scheduled to meet some colleagues who just arrived HK and again I could not locate their whereabouts because my phone just suddenly went dead on me and not really surprisingly having lived here for ages, no one was willing to lend their phone to me at the MTR).
Anyway, the next day I went to this shop again and they said that they will have it fixed and surely there is a part that has to be replaced and they will charge me for it. I was so upset because:
1. The phone was not even a month old
2. If there is a broken part then it could have been already broken when I got it so why make me pay for it
Anyway, I told the owner to just replace my phone. He refused to and said that he will lose money and so offered to buy my phone back at HK$3,300 (I bought it at HK$4,800). What a rip off!
I told them to write down their offer and sign it as proof but the owner refused to sign his name. he thought I was stupid to accept a signature that only shows the store name and not his signature.
After arguing about his refusal to sign his name (being the owner), I felt that he was dodgy so I called the police and he went there to investigate but could not do anything. I can't speak Chinese and so I don't really know what that owner told the police.
I don't want to be on the losing end here and definitely I don't want crooks to get away that easily so can anyone tell me who to approach to file a complaint against this store please?
