I'm leaving Hong Kong and need to send a box of personal items to Australia- total weight 20kg. I guess the cheapest option is to send it by sea freight. Can anyone suggest a cheap, reliable freight forwarder?

Just did the same thing - sent it via Hong Kong post. But there are restrictions on size, so you need to buy the dedicated post packs from the post office first - absolute max to Aust is 20kg, so you could even split between 2 boxes if need be. We found it to be the cheapest by far - takes 6-8 weeks according to the information we received.
Insurance is also cheap through the Post.

Thanks, actually I was thinking about using Hong Kong post. It's nothing urgent so I can wait 2 months!

the maximum ive sent is about 15kg - around hk$330 which included the insurance. Looked at the baggage company, but for the amount we were sending, comparing costs it worked out much cheaper using HK post.
Pick up from the nearest post office at receiving end.

I just picked up two 20kg boxes from the post office - amazed at how cheap it is to send by HK Post. Would definitely recommend to others.

I sent a 20KG box to Aus, Brisbane, Speedpost and it was $1200 with insurance. Surface would be WAY cheaper. HKPost is brilliant. AusPost, well...that's another story.
