Planning on going to Kho Samui for a holiday. Can someone recommend a family friendly resort/villa in Kho Samui that is on the beach. We will be traveling with a 4.5 and 6 year old. We don't want to be in total seclusion but yet not in the hustle and bustle of the busy beach. Personal experience advise would be great!!
Also how about Borocay? I know is more secluded but any thoughts for a family with two young children?
Any advise on hotel area or anything would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Boracay is great. Was just there with my hubby and 4 year old son who absolutely loved it and never wanted to leave the place! Just gets a bit crowded during holiday seasons but if you book a hotel at Station 1 (the areas are sectioned according to stations), then you should be fine as you most likely will have your own beach front. Also, this area is more private, at least from our experience. We stayed at Pearl of the Pacific. Can also recommend Friday's, Waling Waling and Seawind. You can google Boracay and there will be lots of listings. Fly directly to Caticlan via SEAIR or Asian Spirit as this saves you a hell of a lot of time.

Boracay is a wonderful place to go, but avoid it during the easter holiday as there is way too much activities and merry-makers
Agree, the resorts in Station 1 give you more beachfront "space" and there is less crowd. There are all kinds of bars and restos along the 7-km strip from Station 1 to Station 3.
Have been to Karon Beach in Phuket and had a lovely time too. It's pleasantly quiet but I must admit there's not a lot of water activities to choose from unlike in Bora. Sand in Bora is sooo fine, it looks and feels like powder!

We went to Koh Samui and, as mentioned above, were impressed with direct flights from HK meaning the island is only a 3hr flight. We have stayed at couple of areas but much preferred Bo Phut which is on the north coast. The hotel is away from the main town and a short stroll to Fisherman's Village which is a collection of cafe's, bars and restaurants. The hotel was called the Anantara, see - http://samui.anantara.com/ Our 6 year old son loved the pool and kids club while my wife loved the spa (just across the road).

Thank you all for your feedback. I was told to stay away from the Phillippines for the Easter Holiday as it's pretty crowded with the celebration. So hence it looks like Samui this time around.
Topol: we looked into the anatara but it seemed from the website that it doesn't have access to the beach. How is the beach there? I take it they do not have any villas as I do no see any listed.
How about the Santiburi Resort and Spa or the Briza in Chewang? Anyone been to those before?

The Anantara has direct access to the beach - and the beach is good for kids, sea is shallow with teeny waves. There are villas and I would recommend either the suites (which are the villas) or the deluxe terrace rooms - preferably on the ground floor as you get direct access to the pool and garden.
I am not familiar with the other resorts but have stayed in Chaweng and did not enjoy it at all - overcrowded, noisy and dirty. It reminded me of Patong in Phuket.
