How often do you need to wash your hair in HK. People told me that HK polltion is really bad. Will washing your hair everyday damaged the hair?

Hi

Washing your hair everyday will damage it no matter where you are. Pollution is bad, but not THAT bad. Depending on the state ur hair is currently in, I'll just keep on doing what u've been doing.

If you wash your hair every day, make sure you use a good gentle shampoo, otherwise you will strip out the natural oils in your hair. Get a good one from a salon. Never buy shampoo and conditioner from a supermarket as I think you definitely get what you pay for.

Check the ingredients on the label - some of the less expensive brands on sale in shops and supermarkets are exactly the same as salon shampoos, but they use less fancy names for the same ingredients. It's all too easy to get 'blinded with science', so arm yourself with research from the Internet on what actually are the useful/harmful ingredients and then check out chain-stores such as Sasa and Bonjour as they usually carry good makes, e.g. Phyto, Klorane etc. I'm sure they're much cheaper than salon prices.

I wash my hair every day, but only with conditioner, and just use shampoo once a week.

I too wash my hair everyday, with shampoo and conditioner, since I use styling products on most days and sweat at the gym. During warm weather, washing my hair daily is non-debatable.

Not everybody can afford to buy and use only salon products lke kerastase and phyto. I use supermarket brands and neutrogena to remove the build-up. So far, I still have healthy hair

I'm sure people with nice and strong thick, healthy hair can wash it every day. Unfortunately, mine is very fine and prone to becoming frizzy, and that's why I recommend good salon shampoos and conditioners. Also, it's not just washing hair every day that can cause problems, but blow-drying it daily mustn't be too good for hair. If you can use cheaper products from the supermarkets, good luck to you.
