"Received this from my friend. Is the following true ?"

Yes it is true. The "s" in "https" means secure.

"SO it is safe to do that booking... pls remember when you buy any thing online make sure passing your information on the website showing https REPEAT https........... don't do anything that is without the " s ""

True. "http" is unencrypted.

Hello.

In essence you are safe as long as you trust the brand or site. Don't click through straight from an email, type the url yourself if you want to be sure.

Ecommerce sites should have "https" as well as this you should see a small lock icon in the right hand side of your browser (assuming you are using Internet Explorer). You should be fine.

Not quite. Even if you trust the site, an unencrypted connection ("http") means that your communications, including passwords and cc numbers, are sent in the clear. Thus they can be "listened in" on by anyone in the chain. Given that the Internet works by passing packets along through the most convenient route, you never know where your information has gone.

Now that's no big deal for, say, Asiaexpat. But if you're on Amazon or something https is a must.

In other words
