I give my 11+ months tofu when he was about 10 months old too and I got it from Taste, the silken soft tofu. Some chinese here told me to get from market the fresh one, I got once and steam it, but it turned out a little hard and my boy turned his head eat spoon i fed him. After that I am back to the silken tofu from Taste.

Tofu is a really good food for babies since it's something they can pick up and eat themselves. The firm kind can be cut up in cubes and it's so cute to see a baby eating it. I used to buy the kind in the fresh markets.

I think you can buy the silken tofu from Park n shop, get the freshest one you can find. i am not good at steaming stuff, and find it timeconsuming and irritating, so just just boiled it and fed it to baby.
yesterday i scrambled some in a teaspoon of oil with half a teaspoon of finely chopped onions. my baby literally had his head in his bowl..

I used silken tofu too......how do you store leftover tofu?

I let mine finish in one day means having lunch and dinner in tofu mixed with veggies or pasta and veggies. if he can't finish, i will eat it.. haha

gosh, all these threads brings back memories..too bad my old PC died and i can't retrieve the food log i kept for my son!
but we gave tofu around the time as recommended by ruth yaron who wrote super baby foods, lots of mums on this forum use the book. smsm, i see you have lots of questions about solids, i really recommend this book as it's great for suggesting what foods to introduce on a monthly basis for your baby. the only caveat is that it's a vegetarian book so you need to add in meat if vegetarian is not what you plan for your baby.
i used those sealed tofu, probably silken ones (the ones that says suitable for steaming or for soups). i would mix it up after boiling or steaming (they cook really fast) with sweet potatoes as a meal for my baby then....honestly quite revolting but he ate it!!

oh just want to add that if your baby accepts tofu, it's brilliant. after he turned one, sometimes for lunch, i just mix tofu with some minced pork, steam it all together and that's lunch with some rice. and when we eat out in a chinese restaurant, you can be pretty sure mine will attack the tofu dishes. funny how my husband hates tofu!
