I'm trying to find out information about multiple entry visas into China. I've found a lot of out-of-date info and prices, plus tantalizing references to the 'best place to go' being 'somewhere in Wanchai', but a lot of the info looks contradictory.
I've also see references to changes in the length of the visa now available (from six months to three months) which may explain the confusion.
Can anyone tell me the following (including contact details/web address if possible)
1) can you still get a six month multiple entry visa for china?
2) If so, how much and where is the cheapest/best place to get them?
3) If not six months, same info for three month visa.
Many thanks

1. yes you can, I just got a 1 year visa last week and paid 1100HK$ for it (German passport)
2. check with travel agents nearby and compare the prices, otherwise check out China Travel Service (google it for locations) - prices depend largely on your nationality (Americans and Brits pay more) and how fast you need it (express charges can be substantial if you want a same day visa)

Thanks. Had you already had a shorter term visa, or was the one-year one your first?

Thanks Geraldo
Just looked this up, but its no good for me I'm afraid as I'm not doing Business in China. My husband and I intend to travel into China a couple of times over the next year or so and then there is always Shenzen....
Thanks for the heads-up anyway.

If it's your first visa then you will not be able to get multi entry. Multi entries are usually allowed after you have been into China twice before. Rules always change though. A multi entry will be an F class visa which is for business. Different companies process in different ways, some visas are issued from SZ some from GZ. Shorter term multi entry (say 3-6 months) you will not normally need to prove you have any business in China, for longer term you will.

Thanks for that. Have just phoned up the travel guys recommended by funbobby (link above) who say that with an NZ passport it is not normally a problem to get a multiple entry visa straight away. They did say it's only possible to get a 3 month visa. Also worth knowing - they said you won't be able to get Visa's between the 7th and 10th - who would want to try crossing the border then anyway?
Thanks very much everyone for all your help and comments. You have given me some contacts and info that will get me started.
