Can anyone tell me where I could buy buttermilk? I have searched the threads but have not come up with any answers. Many Thanks.

city super has it as well, also dried buttermilk powder, which is less expensive, as the ''fresh'' is around HK$60 for less than half litre.

do it the indian way and save your hard indian money. Buy "Natural" (plain yogurt) at $12/pot (half litre) and spin it in the blender with half liter water. hey voila you have your butter milk !

Is that all there is to it? Mind you I wouldn't be surprised if I stuff it up, I can't cook to save myself! But I shall give it a go anyway, you never know, it may become my forte!!! Thanks again

Sour cream = soured cream, some lemon juice to fresh cream and watch it thicken. Acid and fat is an amazing science experiement.


Most things to do with "Pastry Work" is simple science.

you can make cottage cheese - search for recipe on internet... not worth the hassle tho - not that expesive here!
