Hi everyone,
I have a 5 week-old newborn. I was just wondering if newborns need any regular check-ups even when they seem okay for things like measuring, weighing etc?
Also, can anyone recommend a pediatrician who doesn't charge outrageous amounts of money? I live in Tung Chung and can speak Chinese so don't need an expat doctor. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

you can try out Dr. Tse who is quite good and patient in babies at Jordon MRT. If so, please let me know if you are interest. They charge $3xx and noneed to Q up

Yes, cara is right, Ilive in TC too and i have done all my baby's check-ups and vaccin at the health centre for FREE. Even if you don't speak Chinese, the nurses and doctors there are good in English. In case of you need a private Pedia, DR. Lee from Human Health is good. He station both at TC Crescent and MTR station, off on Tuesday. OF cause the first choice is Dr. Dorathy Chan from Quality Health but she is on leave since last year and not sure when she is back or maybe she is back. Check them out.

Most health professionals advise weighing babies in the first month to assess weight gain and effective feeding. If babies are progressing normally then weight checks during visits for scheduled vaccinations is adequate. Weight assessments and vaccinations can be done at a well baby clinic or child/health clinic which are available throughout Hong Kong. Some hospitals offer baby care packages inclusive of doctor check ups, scheduled vaccinations and well baby assessments. Healthly full term infants can be also seen by a family physician or general practitioner.
