Partial Relocation to Zhuhai, China - need moving advice

All,

I recently invested in an apartment in Zhuhai, China and plan to move there on a part-time basis, downgrading to a smaller apartment in Hong Kong. My work permit is in Hong Kong, not China. I just want to move a few of the bigger pieces of furniture over there. The movers are saying that I need a Chinese work permit and residence permit to get the import permit. Does anyone have any input as to whether this is really necessary and if there is any way around it?

Thanks!

This is in fact true if you want to import personal belongings officially. However I suppose there are many "custom agents" who can help you bringing that in otherwise. Altrenatively you can find a friend who imports it in his name.
