I am wanting to puchase a large Arco floor lamp with marble base. i have found that they are pretty expensive here in HK but note that they are all made on the Mainland.
Can anyone direct where I could source/buy one in somewhere like Shanzhen?
Cheers

If you can get hold of the little red Shenzhen shopping book, there is a recommended big, very westerm store about 15 mins from Lowu - can't remember the name, but we got a great lamp (black marble base) for 290 RMB.

I have to buy some lamp/lightings for my house as well. Any shops/place in SZ recommended?

I saw the Arco design style lamp (made in China) in furniture shops in Whampoa Gardens (Hung Hom Area - $20 taxi from TST) some time back and the price was good. Also seen it in a few other places. You need to go to furniture shops frequented by locals (ie. shops that tend to import from China rather than Italy - eg, rows of lighting shops in Wanchai). I got mine from Shenzhen but it was a real hassle to bring it back to Hong Kong due to the weight of the base and the long arm. Turn out the price was the same here in Hong Kong. Cannot remember the actual price but definitely less than HK$2000. If you are keen on lightings from shenzhen, go to "Shun-Gang / Ni-Gang" area north of Lowu (RMB$20 taxi), there are some large furniture malls there. But my experience is that the prices are good and design are great (italian copies), but the quality is not durable. A few pieces was not working after a few months, but none of the shops in HK have the parts to repair. So, I had to throw it away......beware of this risks. Suggest you shop around in HK (which imports from China) and the prices are about the same, plus they can help you repair it. Good luck.

Did you ever find that Arco lamp here in HK?

Becareful in buying the Shenzhen ARCO copies, transporting them can be expensive, the marble base only weighs 70 kg! Try hoisting that over your shoulder to get the train from Lowu. They are also not very durable and the shops are not terribly interested in providing after sales service. You are better off finding a good copy in HKG if you cannot afford the real thing, at least there is some comeback if there is a problem with the item.
