just like to find out...i stopped at about 3 months with no. 1 because he was evicted from our room and i had all those SIDs fear, he went into a grobag after his dream feed and slept through until 7am.
with no. 2, he is starting to sleep a longer stretch at 7 weeks, alot earlier compared to his brother...but his moro reflex is still quite strong so might not settle as well if i don't swaddle him. would like to introduce grobag soon but worried how it might unsettle his sleep???

we went on forever - 4-5 months i think - we put them in grobags at about 3 months and still used a very thin blanket (the swaddling one) to swaddle their arms on top of the grobag - otherwise they were flapping at night like mad. They say that they start getting control of their arms around 3-4 months, but ours did not seem to until later... Eventually they just started getting out of the swaddle themselves so that was the end of that...

i thought of using a grobag and then tucking him in with a thin blanket that goes under the cot...
just not feeling brave enough at the moment esp. when the sleep is improving!!! i remember it took fmy toddler quite some time to settle at 7pm when we introduced the grobag at that time...

my bub shows sign of not wanting to be swaddle since week 6, which we did try for few nights. and he seemed ok. so we swaddle him under his arm instead cos it was winter in australia and i wanted to keep him warm. however, i went back to swaddling after pressure advice that all babies should be swaddled until like..6 months! but i stopped at 3 months. thinking back, bub was ready to be unswaddle at much earlier stage, but being 1st time mum, i wasn't confident of those signs i've seen.

#1 hated being swaddled so I guess around day 3. #2 didn't like it much either but she let me do it for a couple of weeks.

#1 we swaddled at night and naps until he could roll over, then it was dangerous.
#2 we swaddled less, she was a great sleeper at naps without it, so really just at night until probably 3-4 months.

so when you guys stopped swaddling, what did you use? grobag, haf swaddle or nothing?

Depends on the climate and the age of the child at the time. If it's cold, a grow-bag and pajamas works. If it's warm, just pajamas. If it's cold the child is over 9 months or so, pajamas and a cover of some sort.

We first half swaddled with the arms out, then just did warm pajamas.
We never used a grow bag for either baby.

When i stopped full swaddling, bub was 3 months old. i started with under arm swaddling with a thin muslin cloth, and let him wear long sleeve no legs one piece suit, and put a blanket on top, under his arm. very soon, i felt he need not be even swaddle under arm (which i can't remember how many months), i simply use a blanket and tuck under his arm. he wasn't kicking much at that age... when he started to have more movement iwth his legs at night, i switched to grogbag..he was probably 5-6 months then, and soon he started flipping, so grobag all the way then till now..... and no more blanket on top once i use grobag.....but i let him wear long sleeve long pants (with feet type) as his PJ.

oh yes..when i use blanket (before moving to grobag), i tucked the blanket under each side of the cot, i also put pillow on each side of him so he feels secure. i know there's many advices not to put pillow (SID), but i did it anyway..my bub was flipping nor have much movement when he sleeps, so i was confident he would be ok..and i also woke regularly for feeding and checking on him anyway....
