depends on the area you want to be in - shopping one, sites, etc? Bangkok is quite huge, you need to chose the area first I am afraid!

Well, if you want something different; You can try one of these top view hotels in Bangkok - http://asiaacer.wordpress.com/2008/10/02/top-10-bangkok-hotels-with-amazing-views-the-recommendations.

For my suggestion, you can try the Centara grand hotel. This hotel was just officially opened not long ago. Should be a very good option.

We stayed at the Marriott Executive Apartments last time, and it was great. We booked directly through the Marriott website, and if you book far enough in advance, the price can be very cheap.

You don't specify if this a a young couple or family? A couple members have indicated the Labua is a good choice. It is also known as the state tower. It is an excellent hotel and the breakfast buffet is great. You will also find the Sirocco Restaurant on the top floor to be most beautiful and romantic and the food is excellent albeit expensive.

I've been to Thailand for a few years back and forth and prefer hotels around Langsuan and Rajadamri rd. A bit more quiet and relaxed compared to Sukhumvit, and definitely more class. There are some cool deals in Thong Lo as well if you want to escape the usual tourist traps. I always book via www.hotelagent.org because i can't be bothered to search all the hotel websites out there. This one does it for you. Here's the list for Bangkok FYI....

Hope you find what you're looking for. Cheers...

We went to the Sukhothai hotel and were quite disappointed by the room.

The restaurants are excellent though (italian and indian) and the Sunday brunch really great too. Just not the room...
