my son is almost 2 and half years old, and he drinks milk like crazy, he drink 6oz. 5 times during the day, he drink milk before he sleeps and he wakes up around 4 AM and drink milk, and when he wakes up in the morning he asks for milk, we tried to give him food when he ask for milk, but he insist milk and if you dont give he is just crying for hours until you give the milk.
When he had the assesment for 2 years old, the doctor said he should at least have 2 bottles in a day, give him more solid food, but it didnt work, he eats solid food during meal times too, he also likes to eat breads.....but how to stop him from drinking milk?

I am not sure about the 4am drink, as he should be sleeping through.
Besides that he sounds like an active healthy thirsty toddler!
Questions - do you have to give him the cup, or does he have access to it all day, so he can learn to drink when he is thirsty?
Does he also drink water?
Does he get cheese and yogurt in his diet?
Our son is 2 and gets a milk in a cup with a straw, he has access to it all day, and drinks when he is thirsty - sometimes he gulps down the whole cup in one go, but more often drinks throughout the day. He goes through 3-4 cups a day (it varies)
If your son is this thirsty all the time, might there be something in his diet or medical reason that is making him thirsty? Have you discussed this withn your dr?
What I wasn't clear from your post, is, does the dr think this is a problem? Or is it just difficult for you?
Has he met his physical growth curve? Developmentally are there any issues?
Sorry for the questions, but there are so many posts that are 'how to get my toddler to drink more milk' that more information might help to see if someone has a similar situation.

yeah I know, he suppose to sleep through, that happened sometimes, but most of the time he wakes up in the middle of the night.
He eats cheese, he loves it, he eats most kinds of cheese(he dont like blue cheese) and he eats yogurt sometimes, not often since he dont like it, he likes fromage. And he drinks water a lot as well, and juice.
The doctor didn't mentioned there something wrong, she just said that at his age he suppose to drink milk at least twice a day. For development he is fine....no problem, he even begin to talk sentence at early age, now he communicate like he is 4 years old. I have no problem with him health wise, I am just feeling uncomfortable with this drinking milk many times through bottle(he dont want on the cup)

Well, it sounds like you don't have a problem !!
But I would go cold turkey on the bottle and change to a cup with a straw... this was just discussed in another thread about stopping breast feeding, check it out.
He sounds like a super smart and healthy kid, who is probably very thirsty and also gets some comfort from the bottle.

My son was just the same at that age (except he was only given water if he woke in the night). I was also 'told off' by doctor and told to get him eating more solid foods.
To be honest I didn't view it as much of a problem, however. He was happy, growing well, and now he's 4.5 years old he still drinks about .5 litre milk per day in total. I think this is very good for his teeth and bones and overall growth.
Some kids seem to derive a lot of comfort from taking their milk from a bottle, therefore I did not push him to use a feeding cup. For the past 18mths, he has chosen to take his milk in a bottle only first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
And I heard a theory that if you present a small child with a range of healthy options they will be naturally attracted to the food containing the particular nutrients they need at that point in their development. My eldest son has always favoured high-protein foods, whereas his younger brother favours fresh fruit & veg. Maybe for some reason as yet unknown my eldest just needs more protein. Anyway, we just give it to him. At least he's not asking for Coca Cola and McDonalds ...

This is backed up by real research. As long as you offer healthy foods in a healthy mix, kids will tend to eat well.

I once heard a great idea for toddler nutrition. Each day, stock up an ice cube tray with a variety of healthy foods. Put a bit in each ice cube cube. Such as, raisins, carrot sticks, nuts, cereal squares, etc...Then, the child can go to the fridge for little nibbles throughout the day.

I don't really agree with this. Encouraging snacking easily leads to bad habits later in life. "Real" mealtimes, where present family members sit down together, are important even in the toddler age.
