ORIGINAL POST

I have a US Wii with a LAN adaptor and have PCCW broadband in my flat.

But I can't get the bl00dy Wii to connect to the internet - I've tried putting in the IP address etc, but it doesn't work.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks!

I don't have a Wii so not sure what setting you have on it, but on the 360 there is an option to input your log in and password for connecting to the internet.

On top of that, most residential PCCW broadband is meant for one connection at a time. Thus if you have a computer plugged into the modem and connected to the internet, you will not be able to connect on the WII, until you disconnect the connection on your pc

You're best bet would be to get a router, which you would set up with the correct log in details, then you can connect your computer, wii and other hardware with a lan cable to that without the need to either a) disconnect the others or b) log in everytime.

Good advice. I would go and connect the Wii to the internet as standalone and see what happens, or connect it directly without router.

Hi mark_larsen2,

wii support wireless lan, but it doesn't suppout pppoe connection, so you need a router to connect the wii to internet. :-)

My set up with Wii, well my main computer set up is a Wireless Router that connects directly with PCCW. The Wii connects to the router via Wi-Fi and encryption - went straight on no problems.

Rich,

As I stated above, together with Mark's comments that Wii does not support pppoe, I would say that your only option would be to get a router. You probably don't need anything too expensive, but you might want to consider getting a router with wireless capabilities if you plan on either getting wifi items in the future or if your wii is far away from where the router will go.
