Help! Computer not well

My Dell computer has started behaving very strangely...sorry no idea what is going on as don't understand computers but the screen keeps going blank (which can be sorted out by whizzing the mouse about but it may happen 3 times a min and then not for a few mins), then it will crash or take ages to do something and generally it doesn't seem happy.


Does anyone have any recommendations of someone I can call out to take a look at it?

That sound like a virus to me too. The main reason a screen goes blank is because the power settings for the monitor is set (but in your case happens very often). Check this setting by going to your Desktop (were all the icons are)>Right-click>Select Properties>in Display Properties popup select Screen Saver Tab>click on the Power button>then look to see what's the time set for 'Turn off Monitor' (mine has 15min). hope this helps.
