My partner and I are planning to move to Kong Kong/Lantau later this year, she is French I am Irish, and I have so many questions I can't remember. Basically we want to set up home and hopefully business there, and need to sort out visa and legal issues. Any ideas and advice would be much appreciated.

- If you can, take across-cultural training course. Very very useful.

- When you arrive, do a 1-2 day orientation. Most of the movers/relocation firms offer this kind of thing.

- Prepare yourself for the fact that it may take 1-2 weeks to find a place to live, then 1-2 months before you can actually move in.

- Check out this vaguely useful page I made: http://hongkongtips.rosboch.net

Agreed with Transhk21 and Adfundum. You may love or hate either Lantau or the Island (hopefully not both ;) ), but it's hard to know before you get here. Of course, if you are a pilot and want a close commute to the airport, Lantau is a good option.
