I am thinking of investing in some of the ETFs listed on HKSE - can someone give me a good resource to compare things like fund size, expense ratio etc? Any other advice?

go to soc gen's website; they just launched a number of ETFs last year covering various sectors; but in my opinion, you'd be better off investing in ETFs listed in the US where there are a much greater number covering various stock sectors, countries, region, as well as commodities like gold, oil, agricultural products, that you won't be able to find in HK.
You can open an account with etrade or charles schwab in HK to easily trade US stocks including ETFs.

isn't there a tax disadvantage of buying US ETFs for a HK resident? i.e. I would pay the US tax on dividends, but HK ETF dividends aren't taxable?
