Schedule for a formula fed baby

Hi..I have recently weaned my 11 months baby and shes completely on formula now. I find that she gets hungry only after 3 to 3.5 hrs of having her 5-6 oz feed. She is up at 7.30 and has 6 oz of formula. After this she takes a nap from 9 to 10 and is ready for breakfast not before 10.30/ 11. I have stopped giving her formula after her breakfast as it really delays her lunch to 3 or 4 pm sometimes. She has lunch straight after breakfast around 1.30 and then formula at 4 4.30. this is followed by dinner at 7 and then night feed at 9 pm bedtime. She sleeps through the night and gets up at 7.30 8 in the morg.

Can others share their schedule of their formula

fed babies. Just want to make sure that am doing things right.

thanks a lot frds

when my son was 11 months, i think our schedule was pretty much as follows:

7am: bottle followed by breakfast of oatmeal cereal with fruit after

11am: Lunch

2.30pm: small bottle (dropped by the time he was one, then replaced with a healthy snack like fruit and cheese, yoghurt to ensure dairy intake was still adequate)

5pm: Dinner

6pm: Bottle

7pm: Bed

He was a poor milk drinker until we introduced cow's milk after 1 but a tremendous eater and still is!

by the way, i don't think there is a right or wrong method/schedule, every baby is different. if your baby is thriving (good weight gain, well developed, etc) and sleeping well at night, i reckon that's a good indication that she is drinking and eating well enough.

As Wheelymate says, there is no right and wrong. You know your baby. Trust your instincts.

However I will say that at 11 months she should be able to take a good 7oz. Also what solids is she getting?

She does take 7 oz occasionally but mostly its between 5 to 6 oz...She eats following solids at meal times:

Breakfast - muesli with fresh fruits such as apples, banana, pears or fruits with mixed cereals or porridge with dates apples

Lunch - rice and lentil preparation with veggies in it...i vary the veggies for her but usually it a mix of 2 to 3 veggies or some rice and veggie preparation like today she had rice with spinach and cottage cheese receipe..this is followed by yogurt..

Dinner - veggie pasta with tomatos, or mixed veggie soup with her cereal...twice a week egg yolk mixed with yogurt..

we are essentially vegetarians but was thinking of introducing chicken for her..havent done it so far..i guess will start with the jars and see how she likes it..

My daughter is also formula fed and for the last few months she has been on only 3 formula feeds a day. (she is almost one year old) she has about 7oz at 7am, then nap, then cereal/porridge/fruit combo at 10:30, lunch at 12 and a bottle- about 4 oz at 1:30, nap, small snack of fruit then dinner at 5:15 or so, bottle of 4oz or more depending on how dinner went before bed at 7:30.

I don't think your schedule sounds bad and it is okay for your baby to be hungry after 3 hours. I feed both my kids something about eveyr 2 hours during the day the same way I eat. Three good meals and 2 small snacks. Like Wheelymate said- as long as your baby is healthy and thriving then she is eating enough. The amount my baby takes by bottle varies throughout the day and from day to day. But it is decreasing slightly as she eats more solid meals and as I encourage more "people" food.

Your daughter seemsto have a a nicely balanced diet. Keep introducing new foods. She'll eventually eat less often. But at the moment it all looks pretty normal to me.

If you have time to prepare it, I would go with real chicken. Never been a fan of processed foods, especially for babies. Make a casserole with chicken plus some veggies and run it in a food processor.

Hi I more or less follow Gina Ford's schedule on my 10 month old boy:

7am milk + cereal (may start this half hour or later after milk feed)

11.30-12 lunch

2.30 - smaller amount of milk

5pm - dinner

6.30-7pm - milk

11.30pm - milk

unfortunately, i m still weaning nite feeding off my bub. it has improved. but he does wake up 5-yish am and i will feed him diluted milk.

in the day, he drinks about 5oz each time (except 2.30pm whcih i will give him 4oz to encourage better dinner and bedtime feeding). he doesnt seem to be able to drink more than that. last feed at 11.30pm, i recently trained him to drink 6oz (often than not, he can't finish that also).
