Can someonen give me detailed instructions about how to walk up to the Big Buddha from Tung Chung MTR? I couldn't see any signs last time I was there. Can it be done with a 4 year old walking beside me?

I have done this walk several times and there are a few different ways to get up there but none of them easily sign posted from the TC MTR.

On the weekends there are hundreds of hikers heading up that way so just follow the crowds and you'll be OK. It's a great walk on a nice day, but seriously steep in places and I would suggest leaving your 4yr old at home unless you are both super fit.

I have seen kids with their parents taking the track from the top of Tung Chung Road to Ngong Ping which is more traversing, but still steep in places with big steps. Get a taxi from the TC MTR (blue only) to the Tung Chung Road saddle ie the very top of the hill road (about $40), and follow the sign posts from there - about 2 hours and take plenty of water. Then the bus or cable car back to TC.
