In view of dire space contraints, I need an adult loft bed so that I can have some strorage space beneath the bed. Does anyone know where I can purchase (besides IKEA) an adult loft bed with staright ladder? Perhaps I could have one made? Any idea what the cost might be?

You could try Takad Furniture - http://www.takad.com.hk/index.htm. We had our helper's bed made there, so i know they custom make. Not sure on price though, we paid around $3,200 for a single high built bed with storage, drawers and table underneath. I think Jade Rattan do custom made also, but I found them a bit more expensive. Worth a shot though.

Plenty of shops with both ready made and bespoke beds (loft or otherwise) on Java Road in North Point.
I would say you're looking at everything from 1500 Honkies and up.
