Has anyone (with Western Hair) tried a hair salon for hair straightening in Shenzhen?
Has anyone tried this and can recommend? And how much did it cost?
Thanks

I'm a Westerner :) with fairly fine & curly hair. I had my hair straightened at Salon Espirit in Kowloon Tong. I would highly recommend my stylist Samual Tang. I LOVE my new straight, easy to care for hair! The price is not cheap (2000hkd), but it is so worth it. I don't know about doing this in SZ. I had a friend who did this at another reputable salon and she said that her hair started falling out in big clumps. My stylist said that this could be could happen if she had treated her hair with something else (like dye) in the past 3 months or if the solutions were left on her hair for too long.
So, although I love my new hair style. I would be cautious about where I got it done.
Hope this helps!

Actually wouldn't try it in SZ unless i could saw & touch ththe the hair of someone who did it...
If you want a cheaper option, maybe try what i did... went to a local salon in HK, recommended by a HK friend who gets her hair straigntened there.... went with her (to sort the language issue). For around 750 HKD, you get hair-straightening, colour, cut & blow dry... be ready to spend a few hours there, though (closes late, so you may want to go after work).
I'm quite pleased about the result and will go back there when my hair need further straightening (went there a few months ago already for straightening).
I've gone back there quite a few time for colours / cut and, as the staff speaks enough English, can go by myself now.
Look for my other posts (in Women's section) on this forum and you'll find my initial questions & the result description.
If you want the name of the place, PM me, or try the "go with local friends / colleagues" tip.
Don't try any cheap random (=untried by people you know) place in HK or you may end up with sth really bad for your hair.
