craft fairs?

I make handmade sterling silver jewelry, and I am looking for some outlets to sell my work. When I lived in the US, I sold at arts & crafts shows/fairs. Has anyone gone to high-quality craft shows in Hong Kong?

There is a severe lack of that type of outlet here.

You can have a look at openairhk.com they organise a couple of "craft markets" a month, but I use the term loosely as you will find that the majority of stalls are proper business ventures and the cost of the stalls impedes people who genuinely make crafts as a hobby from taking part if you want to make any money at it.

I think the closest you can get to something like that would be the bazaars various organizations do each year. Starting around August or September each year, the YWCA, AWA and countless hotels and schools hold bazaars. I hear the one at the Conrad always have alot of people selling their own handmade jewellery. I used to consign my stuff at jewellery shops in Central, maybe you can look into that as well. I also suggest you start looking into private jewellery parties where you host a afternoon tea at your place and showcase your work for everyone to buy. I'm sure alot of the expats would get a kick out of going to events like that.

Yes, I used to do house parties when I lived in the US and had a large network of friends. Tly, I take from your post that you also make your own jewelry. Do you have a successful business in HK?

I used to sell in Manila and after I moved here I sold my work in a few shops and to friends. But after I started having kids (I have 2 now) I couldn't find the time and energy to continue. But now that one is 4 and the other is 1.3 and we finally decided to hire a helper, I at least have the time to teach it instead. I might start a proper business of it after we move to Australia next year.
