Career/University Help

ORIGINAL POST

My son is currently trying to make some decisions about which universities (and countries) to apply to. He has no idea what he wants to do and I'm really not that happy with the support that his school is offering him. He could really use more.

Does anyone know where of anywhere that I can get advice to help him with this?

well what does he want to study when he gets to college, there aren't really external career advisers in Hong Kong, You could try the British Council which have an education counseling unit which council students on which universities would be suitable for the student to attend in the UK, I used them way back in 1990, I am sure the unit still exists they are the ones that organise the British Universities fair's etc, and the counseling was pretty good at the time. Of course if you are thinking about the US, I really cant help you with any information on that

My daughter went to a careers counsellor who has 10 years experience in HK. She lives in Happy Valley and is really nice, she really helped my daughter focus on what she needed

Wow, I'm impressed that my help for students is making its way into this forum. This is Marian Riedel and I do offer a program designed to help students make a connection between their aptitudes, abilities and career interests. It's very helpful for those make senior secondary subject choices (IB, A-levels, etc.) as well as those who are deciding what to study at university/college and where they would like to go.

hkhome10, please do give me a call (9740-8446) or email me at marianriedel@gmail.com- would really like to help your son make some decisions about his future.

Thanks!!
