Wrinkles/lines on upper lip

ORIGINAL POST

To my horror, I've recently noticed the appearance of a couple of wrinkly vertical lines on my upper lip each morning. They seem to fade out during the day but I'm really worried that they are going to become more noticeable.

I don't want to go down the botox route and end up looking like a fish, so does anyone have any recommendations for a good anti-ageing product that might work on this area and make them less noticeable?

Botox wont make you look like a fish cause its not a filler and wont pout your mouth - restalyne and perlane are used for the lips. Botox causes temporary muscle paralyses but does not fill lines. It can be used to stop the muscle contracting and causing the lines/wrinkles/creases. If you use fillers such as collagen and perlane into the lines, you will fill them out but not create a pout as it. This will give you an instant result whereas products tend to take time and do not always give you 100% results.

If the lines are ON the actual lip, it could simply be dehydration. When you wake up in the morning the body is usually dehaydrated as you have had nothing to drink for generally 8 hours. After drinking during the day and replenishing body fluids, the creases may fade. I would suggest a glass of water before bed (unless you are worried about a trip to the toilet in the middle of the night) or sleeping with a product containing hyaluron which is a water attracting molecule - or a nourishing lip balm.

Try gently exfoliating your lips with your toothbrush after brushing your teeth and apply lip balm eg Dr Murad Soothing Lip Therapy over night. Works for me!

Thanks for the advice, but still not interested in the botox route. The lines are definitely not ON the lip, but just above it ... they were'nt there before. I've been applying lots of lip balm at night before going to bed and rubbing it in above the lip line. I must confess to not drinking much water ... perhaps the dehydration theory is the problem, I'll try drinking more.

Still interested if anyone can recommend any product that they have found helpful for this sort of problem.
