Hi:
I am really in a tight situation. I have been married to a chinese girl for 3 years and almost two years ago we got divorced.
We got divorced in mutal agreement, i agreed that my daughter has to be with her mom due to the fact that at that time she was only 2 years old.
To get right to the point, my question is. Is it true that a father here has no rights what so ever? I was told by lawyers that once the parent that has the child can do whatever he or she wants? Is that true?
I can only see my daughter when they want, and now they have moved to the south of china meaning that it will be more difficult to see her, does anybody have any idea on how to deal with this?
Thank you soo much

I have no definite advice for you but couldnt leave your thread unanswered.
I think you should look for a lawyer in Beijing - I gather things might be difficult in terms of seeing your daughter but keep trying!
Good luck!

You are in a tough spot. Mainland China is completely different than HK. You spend 7 years in HK and you are a resident. You spend 7 years in China and you are nobody. You marry a Chinese and live < 5 years together and you have no rights whatsoever.
Your only right is: You marry a Chinese woman, stay together 5 years IN THE SAME CITY (big deal), then get a permanent visa and only then you get divorce. In that case, I understand you may be able to get a permanent residency.
