2 children, Mum and helper looking for short break whilst Dad is travelling.
*3hrs max flight
*House/villa
*On/near beach
*Child friendly area

Sanya (1.5 hours' flight; lots of brand new luxury hotels to suit various budgets)
Phuket (approx. 3 hours+; Marriott, Laguna Resort or many other family choices)
Koh Samui (approx. 3 hours; depending on budget, 4 Seasons, Evason, oodles of villas)
Cebu (about 3.5 hours, I believe; Shangri-La)
KK (never been, but probably closer to 4 hours; Shangri-La, Nexus etc)
Most Vietnamese resorts, Lankawi etc. involve change of planes.

If you are interested in Phuket, we went to a very nice hotel there with our kid, it's very child friendly with play room and stuff, lots of grass for the kids to play and very close to the beach.

I have just booked a break for a break with my two kids (5 & 2) and helper, to Singapore and will be staying at the Pan Pacific in two weeks time, but there is always Sentosa if you like the beach, and SG has some good things to do for kids.

I second KK - either Rasa Ria (Shangrila) or Nexus - very kids friendly and lots to do. Batek painting, cycling, kids club etc etc etc. I believe flight time is less than 3 hours from HK.
