What time do your 6 or 7 year olds have dinner?

I have noticed that our new helper has been feeding dinner to son at 4pm and that's almost immediately after he's had his afternoon snack. Son comes home at around three and finishes his snack at about 3:45. That means he's eating dinner around 15 minutes after a light meal of milk, biscuits and apple and then he goes without food for around 12 hours till breakfast time. Personally, I think 4pm is far too early and the 12-hour gap is too long. Half past five or six may be more reasonable for an early dinner.

mine are too young - 2 yrs old but even ours dont eat until 5.30 and I think we will start pushing it to 6 pm in a year or so - 4pm far, far too early - he goes without food in this case for way over 12 hours - what time is his breakfast? 7 am - that is 15 hours... scary... from memory of being a child that age - 6-6.30 pm..

What!!!! That is ridiculous! Do they have a light supper later and what time do they usually go to bed? My child is 5 and she eats her dinner around between 5.30-6.00pm. That leaves room for a bath afterwards, then some desert and then bed by 7.45pm which we do around 15 minutes of reading and lights out at 8pm. 4pm is way too early for dinner, especially a 7 year old! I'm surprised they don't wake up during the night with hunger pains.

I agree with neenib that 4pm is way too early for dinner. My daughter is 7 yrs old and has a snack after school at about 3.30 -4pm and then has dinner any time between 6.30 - 7.15pm.
