hi

We are looking for a lightweight stroller which is easy to fold one handed (ie when holding the baby (7months) and put into taxis/bus. and also has a back rest that can go down - doesnt need to be flat but so it is comfy for sleeping....

have a bigger heavier one that cant be folded one handed ....but looking for one to take travelling and for trips into central! any recommendations (preferably a common brand which someone will be selling second hand in the classifieds at some stage!)

any suggestions?

Some of the medium weight MacLarens work. For example the Techno XT. One handed folding is quite possible.

Aprica or Combi ones. THE lightest, best, durable, and easiest for travelling. Comfortable too for the little one.

Combi is more common, Aprica now is available in some stores. Saw them in Sogo.

Combi is in Toys R us now.

I was looking for the exact same thing, and ended up with a Maclaren Techno Classic...it's light, can be folded one handed (though you have to bend all the way down to the floor so the latch catches..not always convenient when holding a baby), but it doesn't stand up on its own when folded (you need to lock the wheels and lean it against a wall, or lie it down on the floor. Also, the basket is almost inaccessible when seat is folded down. It's an okay stroller, but if and when I need another, I'll strike it off the list (I was recommended the Graco, but didnt listen!)

On our MacLaren (Techno XT) I just use my foot to do that. Sometimes it takes a juggle.

qwerty123,

i had the same requirements when i was choosing a stroller a couple of months ago. i 'tried' many strollers in many many shops.. and my ultimate choice is aprica. their strollers are super-light (4.5-4.7kg), fold/unfold easily with one hand, stand on their own, compact for small streets of hk.

u can find a good selection of aprica strollers in wing on.

Techno XT is a bit too heavy and wide for an older baby, try a lighter narrower Maclaren pram called the Quest..I have both prams and the Quest is much easier to fold with a babe in armes.Good luck..

We used a lightweight Combi (<5kg) since birth (it falls flat for sleeping) and still use it at 18m/o. Fab for getting on and off transport (it has a strap and slings quite comfortably on shoulder when folded) and folds super small. One handed fold/unfold and no bending. Might be a bit 'low' for taller folks tho when unfolded.
