Short Holiday Destination with 11mth?

Koh Samui is great and you can fly direct.


We went to Koh Samui and stayed at Baan Chaweng which we really liked. Chaweng is the main beach , the sand is like sugar and the water is really clear and there are no waves - it was beautiful - just like a postcard. The hotel was right on the beach and there were just 2 steps down from our room so good with a pram. The hotel was fine with a baby but not really for kids as there wasn't mush to do there aside from swim. The pool is a bit small but the sea is so lovely we hardly used the pool. The main street is at the end of the drive with lots of shops and restaurants and bars and a 24 hour superette/pharmacy but you can't hear any of the noise from the hotel. It was the low season - this area could get a bit mad in the peak time.



Amari Palm and Banana Fan Sea were the 2 other hotels I looked at but both were full, both are more fancy with more facilities. There are hundreds of choices though so take your pick and check out tripadvisor.com for reviews on each one. I found the reviews of our hotel to be quite accurate.



We went out to the Marine Park where The Beach was set but with a 2 hour trip each way on a pretty basic boat I wouldn't recommend it with a baby.



One of the nicest things about Thailand , if you haven't been before is that it is cheap like Bali but the people don't harass you - if you say 'no' then they just leave you alone. It makes for a much more pleasant experience.
