Hi - I need some help simplifying the H.K. visa requirements - is there an alt. website to the official one that explains very simply the process of moving from the UK and working in HK. Or, as I'm sure one already exists, could you give me a link to a thread on this forum? When searching this site it keeps crashing, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks ...

this pretty much sums it all up. Is all pretty straight forward if you have found an employer.
Basically you need to prove your qualifications/ experience with certificates and references, and company show their financial standing and reasons that they cannot employ local resident for the position.

Typically a good employer would retain some legal people to do the work. All you should need to do is answer some questions and sign the papers.
BTW on the crash issue. Are you using IE? Ed recommends Firefox.

Just this weekend the Dane Jens Galschiot needn't require a visa but was denied entry at the HK airport, escorted by a dozen armed officers. The HK visa rules have been reduced to a game.

many thanks for the responses, though i'm a bit puzzled by 'the crash' comments...

The reason axptguy38 made the crash comments is because you said at the start of the thread that you were having problems with the search function of the site and that it kept crashing, so axptguy38 suggested you use firefox because that is the browser Ed recommends. To be honest the problem is a little deeper than that, there are some issues with the search function that obviously need to be rectified, though when I have searched, it has worked for me though in stops and starts
