windows and water leakage

Is there anyway in waterproofing my windows during heavy rainstorms and typhoons. I am planning on travelling this summer home for a couple of months. In the past water has seeped in through the windows during heavy rains. I am very concern that during my absence there would be a significant amount of water damage. Is there anyone who can make a suggestion on how to make the windows themselves more waterproof.

Silicone is a good material as a caulk for the seals. Get a caulk gun and some silicone tubes. To even the silicone out, put some washing up liquid on your finger. That way the silicone won't stick to your finger.
