Hello,

My camera just died (ie cannot switch it on).

Was working fine and took loads of pics, came home and left it in my drawer for few days. When nxt needed it, it wouldn't come on.

The light comes on then disappears and so I can't view anything on screen.

It was only bought nr xmas time - but stupidly I forgot to register the warranty card that came along with it so can't send it to be fixed.

Does anyone know what the underlying prob may be or to recommend someone reliable to take it to for fixing.

Don't really want to purchase another camera since I rarely use it but will be going on hols soon so looks like I may be left with no choice but to burn a hole in my pocket again:(

I'm going to assume you have charged the battery.

What brand is it? You can always try googling the product name + "dead". Also try googling the product name + reset.

I dont know which brand it is but what I can tell you is that if you have a proof that you baught it less than 1 year ago(if the warrenty is 1 year) they can't say "sorry, you didn't register so we don't cover". I had a problem with PSP once and I didn't register, but once I showed them the reciept, they gave full service without a charge.

Imagine a 60 year old person who baught a camera and most of those at this age have no clue about internet or filling in forms after they buy something, it's common sence you are covered if you have a reciept. Even if you don't have it and you baught the camera with a credit card then you can trace the exact date and shop.

Yeah I would agree with omaharrison. In most countries (don't know about HK though) there is no registration requirement. The law protects the consumer.
