Hi,
I'm interested in how many other people are having problems accessing UK hosted websites, recently. It seems that sites such as the BBC aren't accessible using PCCW sometimes.
Reuters, business software, confirmed thay have a number of HK clients who have enquired to them about problems they encounter when using PCCW as a service provider, when trying to access UK sites.
Is there something gong on....censorship on diff country sites, polical issues?????
It was only fairly recently that mainland china service providers allowsed the BBC to be accessed!!!!

I have been using for 2 years and had no problems. Some BBC web services are blocked for users outside of the UK, to try and allow access to license fee payers only, such as the i player.

Thanks Leghk. My partner works from home and has to access lot sof international sites in the course of his job. I'm not referring to just UK restricted parts of a website. He's frequentlybarred from accessing the site over the last few weeks. Other UK sites too. It's strange becuae this prob only seems to be affecting UK sites, not Aus, or other european sites.

Will have a look around some UK sites when I get home tonight, and let you know if any problems. Are there any other specific sites other than the BBC?

If you are using IE, have you tried Firefox? Many "access" problems are just bad coding somewhere.

Not from HK.

Can you give a few more examples? I would like to check for myself.

yes, Reuters. My partner uses one of thier business services which is host in the UK. He's spoken with their techy department and have confirmed that other users in HK are having problems maintaining access to their site. I know that my partner uses firefox btw.
Apparently the problem isn't constant , more an erratic thing ie. can get onto the site for a while then connection lost. Reuters have told him it only seems to be happening to PCCW customers.

I think there is a problem with the Reuters server or service in general, it always giving me problems and to be honest I find it totally exasperating sometimes, especially when I am trying to retrieve important information from there and I cant get to it.

Never had any problems with the BBC website using PCCW.
