I am soon moving to Clearwater Bay and need to find a gymnastics school for my constantly cartwheeling 8 year old. She needs a somewhat advanced class for her age or possibly a team. I would travel outside Clearwater Bay for this.

The only one I can think of that goes to any good standard is Gym Danny at HKIS in Repulse Bay. Google gym danny to get numbers. The YMCA in TST used to have a good gym a few years ago, don't know if its still running. CWBCC do a 2 hour lesson on mon evenings for slightly more advanced kids.

Thanks cd. Are there gymnastics teams and competitions for 8 year olds? My daughter would be competing in the US at level 4.

There used to be competitions when we first came, when the HK sports institute was there. My daughter too was a budding gymnast in the UK, and from the age of 6 until we came here when she was 8, she did 20 hours a week training. We put her into the Sports Institute but because she was non Chinese they wouldn't let her join the squads, and would only give her 5 hours a week. She did a camp at Gym Danny and really enjoyed it. Their web site is hard to move around but once you find the right bit, they will send you details of prices, times, teams etc.
