Well done carlo for posting this. I hope people have made use of your information especially for donations.
My wife's employers have put together an immediate fund raiser where they will match any cash donation to the victims of the China earthquake donated by any of their employees. After reading up on the tragedy and seeing some of the latest images in the newspapers and the Net, I felt compelled to contribute what I feel to be a sizeable one time amount from our family into this fund.
I've read reports that rescue teams from China (Chinese army) are horrendously short on supply of hammers and other basic tools to assist with the removal of rubble in the hope of finding the remaining survivors (work is also being hampered by the weather conditions). Obviously it’s a race against time and the teams are doing all humanly possible by removing each and every necessary brick and rock by hand. Seeing people being pulled out alive is inspirational in the effort being put in by everyone there but also heart-felt sympathy goes out for the grieving survivors who have lost loved ones. Under these horrific circumstances I suppose any charitable funds donated for the victims will be for emergency relief and may possibly help towards the enormous step of rebuilding their lives. The main priority now is to locate other survivors in the masses of collapsed buildings but who can help with donations in tools when these are probably manufactuered in a lot of the local factories by the container load so what more can be done in regards to supplies?
…holding a prayer for everyone affected.
