Living in Macau

As we would be moving to Macau, I would like to know what is it like to be living there? Is it a very liveable place with access to good hospitals and good education? Is grocery shopping as easy as it is in Hong Kong? I have never been there so need lots of advice. Thank you.

Macau is a very liveable place and growing by the minute. However, it is more like a small town than a big city like Hong Kong and Beijing. We are getting more and more western type groceries but of course does not have the variety compared to HK but we get all the staples and the other "nice to have" you get by without. There are 2 main hospitals , the San Janiaro (Sp?) which is government and the Kiang Wu. These hospitals are fine, but alot of people do go to HK if they need to see a specialist or require surgery. (this of course is a very personal choice). A friend of mine has used the paedatric ward at the San Jan and the medical attention and service was fantastic.

Get in touch with the International Ladies Club of Macao, there is always a friendly face to show you around when you arrive and introduce you to other families with similar age children to help you settle in better.

Also have a look on this website for more Macau related forums, info, etc,

Good luck with your move.
