Hello All,
Coming from NA and now in HK I have found the KING Matress sizes are different. This issue is making sure we buy the correct size for future bed frame and bedding. Any advise?

The bedding is no huge deal. 180 cm or 6 feet are close enough that bedding will work either way. So are other sizes around there.
For the frame, you'll have to adapt to the size of the mattress you choose. I would rather choose the exact mattress I want than let the kind be dictated by the frame. If you live in HK getting a custom made bedframe is not really that expensive. We are getting one done for our daughter. The guy just measured the US mattress we brought here very carefully and they will making the bed to fit.
Another option is to get an internally braced bed that needs no external frame. This can either be a "frame bed" or a "continental style" bed. We have a Hästens continental style consisting of two box springs next to each other with a thick mattress on top. (Two box springs to make it easier to move in and out of rooms). See pics here: http://www.hastens.com/en-us/Beds/
There are of course taste considerations either way, but it is quite possible to have a frame on an internally braced bed simply by setting a faux frame (with no structural function) around it. This kind of faux frame should be much cheaper than a "real" one.

that's mean woods99! what he means is that kingsize in US is not the same as kingsize in HK - which i thing is true, same goes for UK and Europe.
Are you just buying the matress or together with bedframe? if you do, then should not be a problem? If you are only buying mattess - why dont you check on some US websites (dont know - Pottery Barn or something ) what their sizes are?

The Wikipedia article on beds has quite a bit of information on the various sizes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bed#Bed_sizes

Thanks Guys minus woodsie! I have found out that many people have an issue with this as they find out later after purchasing the matress and bed that the fit is not ideal. I see various sizes offered in HK 183x190, 183x198, 183x203 so best maybe to purchase with frame in mind OR as axptguy38 said have a custom base done. I will make sure the box spring is two pcs as you never know where you'll end up living in HK and the stairs or elevator or walls wont accept the massive box spring. Understand on bedding. Thanks again and let me know where the best place to purchase matresses in HK are? Cheers!

Hästens has a store here: http://www.hastens.com/en-us/Stores/-Hong-Kong/. I'm biased but I urge you to go try them out. We have had our Hästens for 9 years now and still loooooooove it. High prices but you get what you pay for. Also the 30 year warranty helps. If you break the price out over 30 years it's actually good value.
