I and some friends of ours have received donation brochures from an organisation called "World Children's Fund Hong Kong". Checked their website. The information given about this organisation is kind of vague. Anyone heard of it?

I've heard of them and have donated several times to them. They are like UNICEF. One of the directors is Joseph Lam (HK). HQ is based in the US.

Tax exempt status?

I thought that too, but why go to the US for that when there is probably a similar provision in Hong Kong.

Probably because this is the HK section. There seem to be offices in many countries, all called "World Children's Fund XYZ" where XYZ = Germany, Hungary, USA, etc.

In answer to eaurhb's question of "Why would a 'busy' charity sharing same office ?" - some charities use a 'collection agency'.

Collection Agencies collect for many charities - it saves the charity having to set up administration functions.

Not saying that this is the case with the organisations mentioned above.
