How to seal a diving mask?

Some people use saliva but what is best to seal a diving mask to your face?

Saliva is to clean the glass, by rubbing a bit and then washing it off. If you SCUBA dive then i think the best way is to place fingers with little presure on glass than to inhale from nose.

If still air comes through adjust straps.

Agreed wtih omaharrison on the method. Inhale through the nose. A well fitting mask will stay put without the strap if you inhale very lightly through the nose. Your mask will become more snug as you descend and pressure increases.


The reason you use saliva is to prevent fogging.


For certification you need to demonstrate the ability to put the mask back on underwater and clear it of water.
