Does anyone remember that HK commercial just after the first bird flu scare and 97 crash ?? it was only on air for a short while and then never seen again ... something like "Hong Kong. Kowloon, Hong Kong. We love Hong Kong. you'll like it too ...."

or SOMETHING like that ... it was super catchy ... and i wish i could get a copy / link to it somehow for keepsakes and giggles ...

Any ideas / memories??

yeah I remember it, No idea where you could get it though, probably on youtube somewhere, they have loads of Freddy The Weatherman stuff on there from as far back as the early eighties

No, thats not the one, the ad the poster is talking about is a lot less sophisticated, but the tune was catchy, and quite amusing, I cant remember what the ad was about, I think it might have been for Kowloon dairy milk, or the post office or something.

thx above .. tried the youtube link, but def not that one ... like DigB says, it was pretty basic .. i think snaps from life around hk at the time ... and i "thought" i remembered some visual link to the 97 bird flu cull ... could have been KDairy or post, tho i'd thought it was just a "love hk; it's great" kind of thing -- kind of a pick up after what we'd been thru --- but kind of also got the impression that it was not "gov't" approved or appreciated, hence why it didn't last too long ... will keep looking ...

GLAD i'm not the only who remembers it tho!!

It dates earlier than 1997, here is a 1966 version:

That is the song alright, I didn't realise it was so old, I thought it was just a TV jingle. In the TV ad version I think a guy sings it if memory serves me correctly.

Yup, that's the song ... but not the tv version i was hoping for (tho the old hk vintage photo one is great too). ... i remember it was the combo of the song words and quirky snaps of 97 hong kong that really made you LOL. tried doing a "culkin" search but got nowhere .. but will keep looking around ... someone surely had to have recorded it back then (97/98) ... thought i'd email rthk and see if any of the presenters there were involved (like john culkin) but then came up w this link to steve james jingles -- from rthk ... and had a good chuckle since i haven't heard them in a while ... here's a youtube link and the rthk link too... it's off topic, but still made me laugh ...
