have you tried approaching any of the schools near you directly? Where do you live (or are prepared to travel to?)

What you need to do is send your CV to a few schools, with a covering letter, explaining that you are interested in a position as a teaching assistant. I work in an international school and we have a number of non-native english speaking assistants, but they do all have a very good command of english. As long as your english is of a good standard and you are the right type of person for the job, you will hopefully be offered an interview. Sometimes, if there are no permanent positions available, you may still be offered an interview with a view to becomming a 'supply assistant' (to cover anyone on sick leave, etc) ... this can be a way to get your foot in the door so to speak, until a permanent position becomes available. Good luck!
