Yes my question is same as Riceman's. Does it work? If it is just a hotline for you to declare that you dont want any unwanted fax, SMS and calls then I think it is wasting time because those companies wl still send you rubbish.

If it is a person calling they will usually speak in cantonese, keep them talking by umming ah ha and the likes for a couple of minutes. Even if you don't understand what they are saying. When the pause they will probably havee asked you a question then you say in English "Do you speak English" that really provokes them as they thought they were onto a sale. You phone number will then be scratched off thier list.

I've found a great way to deal with them is to quite enthusiastically say, 'oh, just a moment', put the phone down on the table (still running) and walk away. Perhaps come back after 3-4 mins and say you'll be back in a moment....repeat 4 minutes later until they hang up!! You are then not an attractive customer to that call centre and your number is removed internally...works a treat!

Well, it didn't work for me. I registered, but the calls come up as an unknown number. Then it is all in Chinese and I have no clue which company it is because I can't understand Chinese. They can't get fined that way.

I hardly get any to my cell phone but when I do I just say staright away in chinese that I don't speak the language, they reply with "sorry wrong number" and that's it, but here is an idea which will leave you laughing and stop them from calling you.
Call this hotline thingy and block all faxes then when they call just start making noises of a fax machine hehehe, they will set your number as a fax one which is blocked anyway.

I think the register is only for pre-recorded calls. They can still call you if they have a real person on the other end.
