Do people consider serviced apartments a viable short to medium stay option (for example 6 to 12 months)? Prices seem reasonable on the interweb and it would seem to eliminate the need for a maid for cleaning atleast. The ones that include utilities seem like a real bargain.
So what’s the catch?
Thanks.

Lots of people do this yes. It's a perfectly viable option. Heck I once stayed in a serviced apartment in Southern California for two years. ;) I think the important thing is that you also rent furniture, cutlery, glassware and such.
Once you hit the projected 18-24 month mark you might be better off with a "normal" apartment since you get more space and you can hire a helper. In any case the definition between normal and serviced can be a bit blurred. Our "normal" townhouse has guards, a pool, we have a helper, we can rent furniture...
